Online Advertising is about placing links to your website on other peoples websites, either in the form of attractive banners and text links, or by setting up a Pay Per Click Campaign, usually on search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Pay Per Click campaigns are where search engines like Google make their money. You set up an account putting yourself in credit for an amount of money, then set up an add with a title, description and the page on your website you wish visitors to go when they click on your add. When its live visitors will see it depending on the words used in your add, and the search words they used, in generally 2 areas, at the top of the search results, and in a column on the right hand side. If a visitor clicks on your add, your account is deducted a 'click fee' which ranges from a few cents to many dollars depending on the word and it's popularity with advertisers doing the same thing; and the visitor is now on your website.
