5 Steps on How to Write Articles for Websites.

If you want visitors and Google to come back to your website, you need to know how to write articles for websites. Content is King when it comes to attracting new readers, but you also want people to keep coming back to read the latest, freshest article on your website and become active users. So how do you achieve that?

This article will guide you through the 5 most important steps that will make writing content for your website fun, attract new visitors, plus keep them and Google coming back for more.

  1. Step 1 – The Topic.

Write content about something you are interested in, or have knowledge of, unless you wish to spend time researching and learning about the subject matter first. We all have unique skills and life experiences, even opinions on subjects, so draw on those when you choose the subject matter for your article.

  2. Step 2 – The Title.

The title of your website article should be concise, giving readers an indication of what the content they are about to read covers. When search engines such as Google, index your article, the title is what will attract new visitors to your website but if the content is not what they thought it would be about, they will quickly leave, increasing the bounce rate which does not go well for trying to achieve a high ranking position in Google’s search results. The title should also include the words of the 3 main points of your article.

  3. Step 3 – The Opening Sentence.

Make the opening sentence or paragraph a description of what the rest of your article will be about. Explain what you will be covering in detail further down with your remaining 450 words. Search engines may include part of this under the title when they display your article in their results pages, if they don’t use the description meta tag that is.

  4. Step 4 – Cover 3 Points.

Each article you write should ideally be between 500 and 700 words, so you don’t have a lot of space to discuss many different points in detail, or go off on tangents, even if they are relevant; save those for another article.
Keep to just 3 main points, at most, for each topic you write about.

  5. Step 5 – The Layout.

The content should be easy to read. Hopefully your websites font size is not too small with line and paragraph spacing that gives the words room to breathe.
Include lists, either ordered with numbers, like I have done here, or unordered with bullet points. You could add some extra pictures to illustrate a point, a video or slide show, even sub headings. Think of ways to break up your content from being just a slab of text.

If done well each page of your website will look appealing and engage your readers, keeping them on your site longer, and more likely to read more of your great pieces.

In summary these 5 steps will help you achieve your goal of attracting new visitors to your website and keep them coming back on a regular basis. This applies to Google too because search engines love blogs. If you write an article for your website on a topic that you know, title it relevant to the subject matter, lay the information out so it is easy to read, grammatically correct with no spelling mistakes and cover at most 3 points in around 500 words, you will achieve your goal.

Important Note: Your article will need to be original, don’t plagiarise content that has already been published because bad content will ruin your seo attempts to rank high on the first page of search engine results. This goes for images too!
Everything needs to be fresh and original.
