Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions we get about Websites:

What’s involved in building a website?

Our first step is to listen to you. What your goals do you have for your website? What ideas do you have on how it should look, and what functionality do you require; in other words what do you want your website to be able to do?

As with purchasing anything, you need to have a budget in mind. This will help us give you the best value for your money.

Note: Websites can be built in stages and can be added to later, so if your budget doesn’t allow for it now, it can always be added at a later time.

What does a website cost?

The cost will depend on how large, how complex and how much work you would like us to do. As a guide, budget between $2,500 and $5,000 to get you a great looking and functional website.

The easiest way to find out; because everyone has different needs, is to contact Thinking IT and discuss your requirements.

What is your hourly rate?

We do not charge an hourly rate per say because we believe you should know what the cost will be – exactly. A website company could charge a very low hourly rate but take hours to complete the task, compared to another charging a higher hourly rate who completes the task in minutes.

When we build your website, we always assume you will want to make changes to the way it looks, so we build it with flexibility in mind, allowing changes and expansion to be done quickly; and therefore as cost effective as possible.

What else do I need for a website? & What does that cost?

With any website, you’ll need a domain name; i.e. the ‘www.name.com.au’. Thinking IT can organise this for you cheaper than you can because of the volume of names we register. The cost for registering a domain name is around $45, and is renewable every 2 years.

You will need your website ‘hosted’. Hosting is where all the files and images for your website are kept, and where your domain name ‘points to’ so it is seen on the world wide web. Thinking IT offer hosting for $500, which is renewable every year, and gives you piece of mind security, free and unlimited email accounts, bandwidth, backups and software updates so your website can always take advantage of the latest technology. We monitor and update everything for you, so you don’t have to do a thing.

Choosing the domain name and hosting are critical elements if you are looking at seo for your website; now or in the future, so we strongly recommend discussing this with Thinking IT before you start building your website.

What is SEO? & What does that cost?

Search engine optimisation or seo; it’s acronym, is about getting your website pages to appear as high as possible on the first page of search engine results when people go to search engines such as Google®, Yahoo® or Bing®; looking for businesses, products or information.

Businesses are understanding that more people are going online now to search for something than ever before, and if they are not finding you, chances are they are finding your competitor.

Thinking IT specialise in affordable search engine optimisation for small business websites, firmly believing we offer the best value for money results; with a proven track record to back up this claim.

Costs of having your web pages optimised for search engines will depend on several factors including how competitive the keywords you’re after are and what position in the search engine results you are after achieving. As more businesses are realising the importance of a website being seen and attracting more visitors, seo is often required to be an on going effort because there is increasingly more competition.

What is the advantage of having a ‘responsive’ website?

All of our websites display beautifully on mobile devices.

We can however, also build your website so that it’s specifically designed to be “mobile responsive”, allowing your pages to automatically adapt; not just resize, to any mobile device including smart phones, tablets, notebooks and laptops.

The advantage a responsive design website is to make it easier to be viewed and navigated around on smaller screen devices; which are being used increasingly more.

See for yourself what a mobile responsive website looks like by looking at Thinking IT on a smart phone.
